The Octopus Energy refer a friend scheme pays £50 credit to both you and the new customer — £100 split in total. No code to enter. Just click the link below and switch in around five minutes.
Get My £50 – Switch to Octopus →Referral link: share.octopus.energy/brave-kiwi-22
The Octopus Energy refer a friend scheme lets existing customers share a personal referral link. When someone new to Octopus clicks that link and switches their energy, both parties receive £50 credit on their Octopus accounts after the first Direct Debit clears. That’s £100 split in total for residential customers.
There is no referral code to type on the Octopus website — the link does everything. If you type the Octopus URL directly rather than clicking the referral link, the system won’t register the referral and neither party receives the credit.
My referral link is share.octopus.energy/brave-kiwi-22. Use the button on this page and we both receive the £50 automatically after your first Direct Debit.
Use the button on this page. You must click the link — typing the Octopus URL directly won’t trigger the referral.
You’ll land on the Octopus Energy switch page. Enter your postcode, current usage, and bank details for Direct Debit. Switching takes around five minutes. Octopus contacts your existing supplier — no interruption to supply.
Octopus handles everything. Your energy supply is not interrupted at any point.
The refer a friend credit is triggered once your first Direct Debit payment clears.
You’ll see the credit appear in your Octopus account. The referrer receives their £50 at the same time. No action needed from either party.
For residential customers, the Octopus refer a friend bonus is £50 each — £100 split in total. For businesses, the reward is higher at £75 each (£150 total). The residential and business schemes are entirely separate — a residential referral link cannot trigger a business reward.
The credit is applied directly to your Octopus energy account and reduces your bills automatically. It does not expire while you remain a customer.
The £50 credit typically arrives two to four weeks after your first Direct Debit payment. Your first Direct Debit is usually taken four to six weeks after you join Octopus. So the total wait from clicking the referral link to receiving your credit is roughly six to ten weeks.
Both the new customer and the referrer receive their £50 at the same time. You’ll find the credit in the “credit balance” section of your Octopus online account.
If more than ten weeks have passed and your credit hasn’t appeared, contact Octopus directly at hello@octopus.energy or call 0808 164 1088. Make sure you clicked the referral link rather than typing the URL manually.
The Octopus refer a friend scheme is open to anyone who is:
Renters can absolutely use the scheme, provided they are the named bill payer and their tenancy allows them to choose their own energy supplier (most do).
Existing Octopus customers cannot use a referral link to get credit for themselves, but they can share their own referral link with friends and family to earn £50 for each successful referral — with no cap on the number of referrals.
Yes. There is no limit to how many friends you can refer to Octopus Energy. Each successful residential referral earns you £50 credit, and each business referral earns you £75 credit. Many Octopus customers build up meaningful credit balances over time by sharing their link with friends, family, and colleagues.
Once you switch via my link and become an Octopus customer, you’ll get your own referral link in your Octopus account — found under “My Account → Refer a Friend”.

Use My Refer a Friend Link – Get £50 →No. Octopus Energy does not have a code box on the sign-up page. The referral is tracked via the link itself. You must click the referral link — typing the Octopus URL directly into your browser will not register the referral.
My referral link is share.octopus.energy/brave-kiwi-22. Use the green button on this page to go directly to the switch page with the referral tracked automatically. Both of us receive £50 credit after your first Direct Debit clears.
Yes, as long as you are the named bill payer at the property and your tenancy allows you to choose your own energy supplier — which most tenancies do. If your landlord pays the energy bills, you would need their agreement to switch.
No. Octopus referral credits do not have an expiry date while you remain a customer. The credit sits in your Octopus account and is automatically deducted from your bills.
First check that you clicked the referral link rather than typing the Octopus URL manually. If six or more weeks have passed since your first Direct Debit and the credit hasn’t appeared, contact Octopus at hello@octopus.energy or call 0808 164 1088. Their customer service team can check and apply the credit if needed.
Yes. Business customers receive £75 each (£150 total) instead of the residential £50. The business scheme uses a different process — visit octopus.energy/refer-a-business/ for the current business referral link. My personal link (share.octopus.energy/brave-kiwi-22) is for residential switching only.
No. Switching energy supplier in the UK does not interrupt your supply at any point. The same pipes and cables deliver your gas and electricity regardless of which company bills you. Octopus handles all communication with your existing supplier.
Ready to switch? Use my Octopus Energy referral link — share.octopus.energy/brave-kiwi-22 — and we both receive £50 credit automatically.
