Who Runs This Site?

My name is Josh, and I’ve been an Octopus Energy customer since 2018. I set up OctopusReferral.co.uk as a simple personal page to share my referral link — and to help anyone curious about Octopus Energy find honest, up-to-date information before they switch.

This is not a commercial site. I don’t work for Octopus Energy and I’m not affiliated with them in any way. I’m just a customer who genuinely rates the supplier and wants to share the referral benefit with anyone who’s thinking of switching.

Why Did I Create This Site?

When I switched to Octopus Energy, a friend sent me their referral link and we both got £50 credit. It was a genuinely good deal — and I wanted an easy way to share the same opportunity with anyone who found their way here through Google.

Beyond the referral credit, I also wanted to create a clear, jargon-free resource explaining Octopus’s smart tariffs — particularly Intelligent Octopus Go and Cosy Octopus — which I think are genuinely underused by people who would benefit from them.

How Long Have I Been an Octopus Customer?

Since 2022. In that time I’ve been on Flexible Octopus and have direct experience of the switching process, the customer service, and the billing system. The information on this site is based on my own experience and publicly available Octopus Energy data.

Is the Information on This Site Accurate?

I do my best to keep everything up to date, particularly around tariff rates and the Ofgem price cap. Pages are reviewed regularly — the last review date is shown at the top of each page.

That said, energy prices change quarterly and tariff details can shift. Always check the current rates on Octopus Energy’s own website before switching. The outbound links on this site go directly to octopus.energy for the most current information.
